At the core of our program and project implementation is the WASH Biosand Fitration Workshop. WASH stands for water, sanitation, and hygiene. These three issues are interelatied and foundatinal to water related international development.
We offer the following workshops in the U.S. and Internationally by request:
Biosand Boot Camp
Day 0 (2 hours): Participants are expected to read all the material prior to coming to the workshop
Day 1 (4 hours): Brief introduction, review, construction of sand sieves, sieve and wash sand for filter, mix and pour concrete into steel mold.
Day 2 (4 hours): Extract concrete filter from steel mold, add sand and gravel materials to concrete filter, add water and test flow rate, review, and questions.
Day 0 (2 hours): Participants are asked to briefly review the material before class and prepare questions
Day 1 (4-8 hours): Introduction to water filtration, including the science behind it and various other options, course work and participation in sanitation and hygiene classes, review of the tools of the trade and how to obtain them, construction of sieves for sand preparation.
Day 2: (4-8 hours): Sifting and washing of sand with Christian curriculum useful in evangelism and Great Commission work, mix and pour concrete into steel mold, review filtration, sanitation, and hygiene material, and develop exploratory project planning and project ideas.
Day 3: (4-8 hours): Extract concrete filter from steel mold, add sand and gravel materials to concrete filter, add water and test flow rate, review, test participants, and questions.
